The Wish List

I HAVE asked a friend for the things he planned to do this summer. Perhaps, I can get ideas from him. Minutes later, he still could not come up with a good reply.
Then he answered, " I don't have the slighest idea. I think I'd rather stay at home."
" Oh, why?, " I was insistent, hoping to get answers from him.
" Life seems to be pretty boring, ya know. I'm kinda stucked here at home. Got no credits in my mobile phone, and nobody's goin to give me bucks to buy call cards." He was hopeless.
" Er, how about something new? Or perhaps, try something that you really want to do but cannot do it on regular school days." I was trying to give him the idea that there's still a lot to look forward to everyday.
He was intrigued. Then, I proved my point. I tried to convince him to find an blank sheet of paper to write down things that he really wanted to. And so he did. I explained further that he should number the items from 1 to 100. It does not matter if those things he jotted down are impossible right now. What is important is that he has the desire and that desire becomes the starting point of everything else. Sounds ridiculous, eh?
Starting from one, he wrote that he wanted to become a painter. He was an artist at heart but he was not sure of his talent. I suggested that instead of placing the lines, " I wanted to become a painter." Why not this line, " I wanted to become a national artist by the age of 60." Now, that is something. You see, he sets himself a date and a positive goal.
Now, the old bored self in him was gone. In high spirits, he continued the wish list. " I wanted to venture into business. To have a company of my own that produces supercomics, like Marvel and DC "
Good. After writing like 36 lines, he finally ran out of ideas. He sought for my help. I told him to stop there. He can always continue to finish the wish list in the next days. Hey, 36 wishes? That's impossible. I mean, people usually have thousands of them. They just don't bother to list them down and make their dreams happen.
My friend intrigued with what I have written asked what I have written in my wish list. I enumerated things like, " I will fly a plane when I reach the age of 50. Write an award-winning novel. Become a Philippine Star's columnist. Try skydiving before reaching 50. A pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Be a linguist..." Ah, lots of them. I have even made two different wish lists. This may sound crazy but this is really fun. You can keep that for years and put a check mark after you have made that wish come true.
One Hundred Wishes. Start to make those wishes come true now. Things that are possible to attain. Again, let me remind you not to procastinate. For those things that you can't do now, you can always have that later. There are still more years ahead of us to do that. If you ran out of ideas, you can refer to someone else's wish list or you can check some in discovery.com.
The wish list is for everybody to realize that there are still lots of things to accomplish in a lifetime. Life after all, is beautiful. Pretty bored, huh? Why not tear a page from your old notebook and start writing a wish list from 1-100? As you go along, you can always revise them. Just make sure you place it in your wallet, hang it in your room or anywhere that will remind you of the things to do in the next 20 years. Then, cross out the ones that are finished. Remember, the fun with this whole process is achieving the wish list. So, do it now. Ah, perhaps, you can send that to GMA and have it featured in Bernadette Sambrano's Wish Ko Lang. That might help.
.: Postscript :. For those who want to share their wish lists, you can email those lists to me. Perhaps, you can post that in the comments section. I would appreciate it if you do so.
