A Quick IRC Walkthrough

First of all, let me tell you what IRC is. IRC is short for Internet Relay Chat. It’s basically a tool used for people to easily communicate in real-time over the internet.
Before you can connect to an IRC server, you first need to have an IRC client (program). I personally recommend mIRC for it’s one of the most convenient and easy-to-use clients out there. Download mIRC here.
Install mIRC. Run the program. The mIRC Options screen (Figure 1) should popup. If not, click the second icon  from the top left area of the program.

On the second dropdown box, choose any Undernet server. You can use Random US Undernet server (as shown) or Random EU Undernet server to get started. Simple fill in your full name, email, nick (which you will be referred to in channels), and alternative (in case someone already took your original nick). Press Connect to IRC Server.
If everything went right, you should be connected to an Undernet server in seconds, and the mIRC Channels window (Figure 2) should popup.

Just type #donbosco in the textbox and click Join. In seconds, you should be in the channel, where you can chat with other users, particularly Bosconians from Cebu.
To join other channels, just type /join #channelname in any mIRC window. #channelname could be any channel you want.
